After chickening out last year, I now entered the Walkon Cosplay Contest this year. I even pre-registered and I am Walk-on #3. This will be my first contest and I am excited. I worked really hard on my Dosu Kinuta Outfit and planning on making revisions to it in addition to hopefully creating a Zaku Abumi outfit for Mike and enhancing my Gluttony Outfit. Now if I can only convince my mother to let have her sewing machine for a weekend.

That's great! Let me know if you need any help or anything with preparing for the competition. I'm a veteran at cosplay competitions. I've been doing it for 3 solid years now. This past con was the first time in 3 years I haven't competed. So ya chickened out at CCC last year? I can understand that. Believe me, no matter how many times you compete you'll always be nervous right before it's your turn to go. You just adjust faster on stage and relax a bit more over time. The best thing you can really do if you're uber nervous on stage is to breath deeply and don't look directly at the audience. Look at the back wall or towards the ceiling. And remember, make sure to stay still for roughly 10 to 15 seconds. That way it gives photographers time to snap your picture.

It wasn't the stage fright, it was the whole daunting signing up task that chickened me out. I am a shy person, but when I have a persona to play I am fine. The Sign up last year was incredibly long and it being our first Con, it took away from what we wanted to see. The staff already made me mad with an incredibly lack of management skills with the lines and getting into events.
As for help, I can use all the help I can get. I don't know where to begin to even ask. I feel like I am going into this absolutely blind. (besides the obvious bandaged over eye) The only thing I feel confident on is the Kimono. I did a fantastic job on it I think, but my expectations were very low.
Any pointers will be extremely helpful. You can see my costume on facebook (through the tcam facebook group page) and myspace (by username abraxys)
